If Diamond Ridge would be your first home, Canada's First-Time Home Buyers' (FTHB) GST/HST rebate can eliminate the GST — the federal part of the HST — on a new home valued up to $1 million, with partial relief on homes between $1 million and $1.5 million. Applications are open now, and where you also qualify for the existing GST/HST new housing rebate, the FTHB rebate acts as a top-up on top of it. With turnkey homes at Diamond Ridge starting from $550,000, many first-time buyers here would fall comfortably within the full-rebate range.
